Name of the project: Young People Learn the Presidential System
The implementer of the project: Sahipkıran Center for Strategic Research
The financial source of the project: Promotion Fund of Turkish Prime Ministry
The aim of the project: In this project we aim to provide an important opportunity for young people, who are generally seen as a guarantee of the future of Turkey, to recognize the Presidential system lately coming agenda in our country. We think that the presidential system can be examined deeply only by visiting the countries with good example of this system, such as United States and Mexico. After these study visits, the participants will share their impressions and thoughts about the presidential system and the compatibility of the system to Turkey, in an academic workshop which will be held in Ankara. The Project has three steps;
1. Study Visits
a) Study Visit to United States: 9 university students and 3 SASAM experts will attend the visit. The planned date for the visit is 25 April to 4 May 2016
b) Study Visit to Mexico: 6 university students and 2 SASAM Experts will attend the visit. The planned date for the visit is 4 – 8 May 2016
2. Workshop in Ankara: After the study visits, a two-day workshop will be held in Ankara in 27-28 June 2016. Participants of the study visits will share their impressions and thoughts about the presidential system of both the United States and Mexico. In addition, academicians and bureaucrats will be invited from the United States and Mexico to talk about their government structure. By means of this workshop, we aim to contribute the widespread discussion about whether presidential system is compatible to Turkey or not.
